Psalm 104 — Praise to the Sovereign LORD for His Creation and Providence

• Everywhere we turn, the wisdom of God is manifested —
  Psalm 104:24

“O LORD, how manifold are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all.
The earth is full of Your possessions.”

• Creation is evidence of the ability of God to design perfect systems —
  Psalm 19:1

“The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.”

This same Masterful Designer displayed His great wisdom in the design of His church.

Ephesians 3:8-11

“To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given,
that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the
beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through
Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be
made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly
places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ
Jesus our Lord.”

The Church Functions According to God’s Design

There is one way the church is to function, and it is the same way Paul taught in all the churches.

1 Corinthians 4:15-17

“For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not
have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
Therefore I urge you, imitate me. For this reason I have sent Timothy to you,
who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways
in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.”

1 Corinthians 14:33

“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

1 Corinthians 14:40

“Let all things be done decently and in order.”

The Church Is to Sound Forth the Word of God

1 Thessalonians 1:8

“For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia
and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out,
so that we do not need to say anything.”

1 Timothy 3:15

“I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house
of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”

Supporting Evangelism

• If local churches can, they are authorized to support the preaching of the gospel
  in their congregation (1 Corinthians 9:14).
• When a local church is unable to do so, their preacher is authorized to receive
  support from other congregations
  (Philippians 4:15-16;
  2 Corinthians 11:7-9).

• Confess — “Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus”
  (Romans 10:9)
• Be Baptized — “Baptism now saves us”
  (1 Peter 3:21)
• Remain Faithful — “He who endures to the end will be saved”
