Christ Suffering

Jesus would set His face like a flint

“For the Lord GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.”
— Isaiah 50:7

Jesus set His face toward Jerusalem

“Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.”
— Luke 9:51

To be under God’s curse

“…his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.”
— Deuteronomy 21:23

To be under God’s curse

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).”
— Galatians 3:13

When did His suffering begin?

  1. The cross
  2. The mocking
  3. The scourging
  4. The mock trials
  5. The betrayal and abandonment
  6. The garden
  7. The rejection of His teachings

It began when He became flesh

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”
— 2 Corinthians 8:9
